2010 Praiseworthy Pups, LLC
Barbara Kouwen, Instructor
I have over 25 years experience as an obedience instructor at all levels
working with handlers and dogs from basic puppy manners classes
through competition level as well as training Therapy Dog classes.
I have personally trained Yorkshire Terriers, Border Collies and
Dobermans Pinchers and have put both obedience and agility titles on
these dogs. My first obedience competition dog, a Yorkshire Terrier
named Thomas, attained the coveted Obedience Trial Champion title.
Thomas was the first Yorkie to ever attain this title and was ranked
23rd OTCH dog in the country for all breeds. During his career we
achieved ten High in Trials and twenty-five High Combined. I also
achieved a UDX on my Border Collie Tess along with a High in Trial. My
youngest Border Collie Ned now 2 is getting ready to compete in both
obedience and agility in the fall of 2010.
While serving as an Instructor and animal evaluator for Paws for Service
in San Antonio, I worked with handlers and dogs toward becoming
working teams to be able to do animal therapy with children and adult
patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and therapy centers.
I served as Director and instructor for the Alamo Dog Obedience Club in
San Antonio and was an instructor for Pikes Peak Dog Obedience Club
in Colorado Springs. I was instructor and part owner of Pawsitive Dog
Obedience in San Antonio.
I look forward to being part of the Praise Worthy Pups Training Center
in Keller.
